ABOUT WOW TANZANIA

Wakefulness Orphans and Widows Tanzania (WOW Tanzania or WOWT) was established as a mainland Tanzania NGO organization, on May 22, 2022, by three co-founders. It was in 2021 when 2 friends, Mrs. Paula Chomba originally from the USA, and Mrs. Betsie Green a native South African, decided to relocate from their homes in France and the UK to open an NGO with entrepreneurship classes and support services that would cater to the specific needs of orphans and widows in Tanzania. Mr. Mike Chomba, Paula’s then fiancé from Zambia joined the NGO shortly thereafter.

We operate a nonprofit facility governed by an active 11-member volunteer board of directors, including the three organization’s founders. We also have three local Tanzanian volunteers serving as a receptionist and field workers. We offer a variety of programs at our center to meet the needs of those we serve. Based in USA River, Arusha we provide entrepreneurial and language training, tutoring, mentoring, exposure to careers in the science and technology sectors, charity, school sponsorships, counseling, and family support to those in need, to create community-conscious/anti-corruption African leaders and innovators for tomorrow.

Having begun the work in Tanzania with orphans at an orphanage in Shagari from June 2021 to April 2022, today, we have registered approximately 80 at-risk children into our program, and are currently in partnership with two schools, Kilimani Primary, and USA River Primary school. After opening our offices at JOBIGs Center in Arusha, in June 2022, we began entrepreneurship training as well as our small loan programs. Since our inception, we have proudly sponsored more than 100 children with school lunches and school uniforms. Other achievements include building a computer lab for Nkoanrua secondary school in Arusha Tanzania and contributing to cementing for building local toilets.

Mrs. Paula Chomba, WOWT NGO Chairman, Co-Founder, and WOW Cornerstone Marketing and Communications Director. With a BA from Temple University in Pennsylvania USA, over the past 20 years, she has successfully run her own music publishing company, EbbanFlow Productions. Having worked with many international independent record labels, and major record companies such as Warner Music France, Universal Music, Saft Music Spain, and others, she has gathered priceless experience in communications, marketing, and promotion for herself, other artists, and companies as well. Her skills include: making a product stand out amongst competitors, communicating with clients and advertising to new ones through social media and other online platforms, excellent verbal and written communication skills that include public speaking and presentations, excellent organization skills, and leading the development and implementation of a company’s marketing, branding, and communication activities.

Mrs. Betsie Green, WOWT NGO Executive Director, Co-Founder, and WOW Cornerstone Finance Officer.

Mrs. Betsie Green, WOWT NGO Executive Director, Co-Founder, and WOW Cornerstone Finance Officer. Betsie is a chartered accountant who has been trained as an auditor by and worked for Ernst & Young on enterprises in retail, small business, the oil industry, and the financial services sector. With a Master of Science Degree in Risk Management in Financial Services, her recent engagements in the private sector focused on operational risk management in the financial services sector in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Mike Chomba, WOWT NGO Vice-Chairman, Co-Founder, and WOW Cornerstone Operations Manager

Mr. Mike Chomba, WOWT NGO Vice-Chairman, Co-Founder, and WOW Cornerstone Operations Manager. As a production manager for Pamukai Construction Company in Zambia and also having run his own construction company called, Mikelo-Tech Enterprises, he is qualified and experienced in the construction sector. His skills include: inspecting final products to assess compliance with quality standards, production worker, monitoring machinery in operation, identifying concerns and making corrections, reporting and solving complex problems, documenting production information via daily system logs, material loading and unloading, machinery operator, forklift operation, and examining incoming materials and documentation for accuracy and quality.

Mr. Drew McGregor, WOWT NGO, Executive Director, and WOW Cornerstone Operations Director.

Mr. Andrew McGregor, WOWT NGO Board of Directors member, and WOW Cornerstone Operations Director. Over the past 15 years, Andrew has worked in both transportation and advertising management. As an operations manager for a major Foodservice transportation company and in operations management at sister transportation and logistics companies. He has been a highly adept and success-driven leader experienced in commercial logistics management with efficiency in planning and performance maximization. Possesses excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Dispatches an average of 50 trucks per day and manages over 50 direct reports. Handles DOT compliance, safety, and equipment maintenance aspects of the transportation department. Oversees new employee onboarding, trains and monitors employees as well as oversees scheduling and routing. Andrew has also worked as a Digital Marketing Manager at SEO Exposed an Advertising Agency in Cincinnati OH, USA. He is an experienced digital marketing manager with extensive experience building, maintaining, and running successful digital marketing campaigns. Collaborative and creative manager accomplished at managing digital marketing presence. Experienced in leading teams of marketing professionals to meet and exceed digital marketing goals.
